Chanson de l'Ange Book One Orphan in Winter Volume 1 Paisley Swan Stewart Books

I just finished reading the Chanson de l'Ange series a few days ago, and I was simply blown away! I am not normally one to physically express emotions while reading a book, but Paisley's books had me laughing, smiling and crying in turns. My heart skipped beats within my chest and then ached in despair, depending upon the plight of the characters.

Paisley has a writing style that is truly unique and her own, and her plot is believable. Her re-telling of the beloved tale of the Phantom of the Opera is, by far, one of my favorite ones ever now, and I encourage any "Phan" to read it. A word of caution, though: once you begin reading these books, you won't want to put them down! Many times I would reach a "calming" point in the book, and then I would make the mistake of reading a snippet on a break at work only to be filled with longing to return to the pages throughout the rest of my work day. That is how good and addicting these books are!

Although there is so much I could say in praise of this series, I dare not say more for fear of revealing elements that would spoil the story for readers who haven't read these books yet. In a word, they are PHANTASTIC and a must-read for lovers of Phantom of the Opera!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

Another note: I also highly encourage readers of this series to purchase the accompanying Immortal Aria album that was inspired by these wonderful books. The neoclassical style music is simply amazing and serves as a perfect backdrop to the scenes in the books. It contains both instrumental and vocal pieces, and the melodies are intoxicating. Of course, the vocals are astounding as well with their crystalline and velvety timbres. Per the author's advice, I listened to the first two songs of the album prior to reading the series and then indulged in the remaining tracks upon finishing it. The album itself tells the story that the series does, and I can envision each moment in the book within every strain of the powerful music on this album every time I listen to it.

Chanson de l'Ange Book One Orphan in Winter Volume 1 Paisley Swan Stewart Books Reviews

Christine daae was a orphan ready to die intell her angle of music come Eric saved Christine from her solitude and was a father to Christine intell Christine was 17 then he was no longer her father he was the phantom of the opera
"Orphan In Winter," by Paisley Swan Stewart, is a beautifully-written story based on "The Phantom of the Opera," by Gaston Leroux. Ms. Stewart's trilogy of novels is filled with rich description and wonderfully-developed, believable characters. In book 1, we learn of the circumstances that brought Christine and Erik, The Phantom, to the opera house, how he became her "Angel of Music," and the development of the strong, emotional bond between them as Christine came to rely more and more on her "Angel's" guidance and support. As Christine grows from a child into a beautiful young woman, the arrival of a childhood friend, Raoul, causes Erik to face the true nature of his feelings for Christine and his fear that she will no longer need or want her "Angel."

Woven into the main story line there are insights into other characters, life in the opera house, and other details that enrich the story and result in a very satisfying reading experience.

If you love the Phantom of the Opera, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this trilogy. You won't be sorry.
It has now been two hours since I finished the last page of this three volume trilogy. How do I even begin to describe the emotional impact? Beautiful? Unique? Passionate? Yes, but these adjectives don't really express the sublime beauty to be found in this retelling of Christine and her beloved Erik.

I've read many Phantom based novels and without doubt Ms. Stewart's works are among the best of the best. The writing is powerful. Seldom have I grown attached to characters so realistic I feel as if I personally know them and seldom have I shed so many tears over the fate of fictional characters as I did during the third volume. Can love be so deep, so passionate, so true it transcends death to endure throughout eternity? I believe it can, and I have no doubt Ms. Stewart does also.

Well done, Ms. Stewart. Brava

I feel I would be remise if I did not mention an aspect of this series that as far to my knowledge, has never been done with any other Phantom based novel,(or any book for that matter) and that is the creation of a musical soundtrack that accompanies a novel. It is a brilliant idea and one that perhaps Ms. Stewart should copyright. The music mentioned in this trilogy has been recorded and brought to life so that the reader can actually hear it performed. All selections are original and gorgeous compositions, and are an extremely effective way to help set tone and ambiance. As soon as The Bleeding Rose was mentioned in the novel I rushed to Ms. Stewart's webpage so I could hear it for myself. I believe Ms. Stewart is planning to release the soundtrack as a CD but I don't think it is available for purchase at this time.
Mere words can not describe my love for this fantastic series. To describe it as anything other than epic would not do it justice. Although I'm an avid lover of all things literature, this is the first time I have truly been so immersed in a story that hours flew by without me glancing up from the book once (and as such, the laundry hills grew to mountains, the dishes in the sink seemed to take on a life of their own, etc). The characters of this series become more than words on a page. You fall in love with them, you weep for them, they make you angry at times, but you continue to cheer for their happiness.
Paisley Swan Stewart is a truly gifted author. She has taken a timeless classic, a story that has truly been explored in every aspect, and reworks in such a way that it's fresh, innovative, and stands alone from the original. Her words flow beautifully, and she makes you feel the things that a reader needs to feel to connect to the story.
Please, do yourself a favor and add this series to your library. You will not be disappointed.
